The crocodile skull features up to 80 sharp homodont teeth, used to clamp and thrash prey, with some crocodiles replacing teeth around 4,000 times in their lifetime. Unlike alligators, crocodiles have longer, narrower snouts, and their upper and lower teeth fit together when their mouths are closed, with a distinct constriction for the lower jaw’s 4th tooth. Crocodiles are among the oldest and most powerful predators on Earth.
